Panel on Thurs. April 7th, 4PM PDT...

This is a super-quick update mostly to make sure folks know I have not abandoned the site, and to let you know that I, along with fellow HELLAMETAMODERNIST Naomi Most, will be on an online panel tomorrow (or today depending on your time zone and when you read this) at 4PM Pacific Daylight Time hosted by Benjamin Wachs, author of Turn Your Life Into Art, which as you probably know is a book that I view as a key text for HMM.

The panel is entitled: "Burning Man — Psychomagical Experience Design Masterclass, Session 2", and if you attended Session 1 you know that Benjamin is digging deep into this topic with his panelists.

And then?

Beyond that, it's been a bit hard to find the next topic to dive into for HMM in the wake of Putin's invasion of Ukraine.  Many discussions that felt important no longer do, although I still very much believe in the core ideas of HMM.  It's more the online back and forth that I can't connect with these days.

But I am starting to feel like I'll find my way back to it somehow, which was not the case a couple of weeks ago.  If anything, we need a culture of shared experience even more in the face of such horrors.

Looking back at the Gravesian theory that was my initial subject matter for this site, the invasion has shuffled view of "the West" and its relationship to the world in interesting ways.  I haven't quite figured out how I feel about that, or how it might tie into HMM, but it's something I have been thinking about.

And with that I will sign off for now.  I hope many of you can make it to the panel despite the short notice (it did not occur to me to announce it this way until now), and there will be more HELLAMETAMODERNISM in the future.
